Wine & Hospitality programme testimonials
A programme treating students as professionals
It's a unique programme, with courses focusing on business, finance, negotiation, and the development of specialised skills. We have the opportunity to engage with highly qualified professionals, some of whom are prominent entrepreneurs and business directors. There is also a lot of interaction with fellow students, who come from various backgrounds and cultures. This programme treats us as professionals and entrusts us with significant responsibilities, a demanding approach that simultaneously strengthens our professional network. I am currently on a placement in a company founded by a former best sommelier in France, where I have various responsibilities related to purchasing. My long-term goal is to enter the hospitality industry within a large international group.
A very rewarding experience
I did the MSc in Wine & Hospitality Management and it was a very rewarding experience both on a human and academic level. The course was very comprehensive and covered many aspects of the wine and hospitality industry, from wine production to retailing. Throughout the course, I was able to develop a solid foundation of skills in the wine industry, project management and marketing/communication. As a business developer at Domaine de Piéblanc, these skills have enabled me to acquire a certain credibility and to be a force of proposal for the domain. I highly recommend this course to all those who wish to enter this exciting sector of activity.
A stepping stone to achieve my dream
I thoroughly enjoyed learning so much about the wine and hospitality industry through this degree. This masters degree has not only provided me an in depth knowledge about different wines through theoretical knowledge, tasting but also by taking us to several vineyards to see how they are grown and harvested in real life. I am using this acquired knowledge as a stepping stone towards my dream goal of becoming a sommelier.
Advance wine product knowledge
"The programme gave me advanced wine product knowledge through its challenging and extremely fun WSET 3, Business Field Trip, and related components. I also learned fundamentals about the wine business including marketing and positioning for wine, and staying up-to-date with market research. These skills are integral to my current job as Buying Coordinator at 67 Pall Mall Singapore, one of the world’s best places for wine. The course’s intensity prepared me for work life, helped me prioritise well-being and good practices at work, and taught me invaluable soft skills such as time management, efficiency, and effectiveness, through its numerous challenging assignments and research projects. The most interesting thing about projects in this course was that all of them had potential real-life applications and their focus on sustainability, which I try to put in practice wherever possible. "
High employability
Since August 2022, I have been a sommelier trainee at Jean Imbert's gastronomic restaurant. I immediately fell under the charm of this prestigious hotel.
By combining the learning of the MSc Wine & Hospitality Management programme with my skills acquired at the Plaza Athénée, I was able to implement the necessary opportunities to satisfy our customers.
